Meghan

Meghan gave up her life as a successful actress to become a princess. Some might say that being a princess is the ultimate dream for any girl or woman, but Meghan found she was support actress in someone else’s fairy-tale, and she saw no ‘happy ever after’ for her, her husband or her son Archie.

“I really regretted giving up my career because my world since marrying Prince Harry didn’t compare.” Reported by a Royal Author

People have been quick to lay the blame of the spilt at Meghan’s doorstep, but it has been made clear by the Prince himself that it was his decision, but not one he made lightly. Before flying out to join his wife and baby in Canada, Prince Harry talked about his great sadness at leaving the Royal Family.

“There really was no other option given the challenges we continually faced.” Prince Harry.

Self-Worth

The decision for this high profile couple to do what many believe is unthinkable – to leave the most powerful and well-known Royal Family in the world – may have rocked the royal household, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex followed their hearts and made a stand for self-determination. Perhaps they should be admired for their strength and belief in their own self-worth against the monolith that is the British Royal Family.

Following Your Dream

The example shown by this brave couple should inspire and make us realise that we too can follow our dreams, do what we want to do and make changes to our lives rather than be railroaded into a life that others believe we should live. It’s true, most of us don’t have the financial freedom of Meghan and Harry, but money, or the lack of it, should never be the reason we do or don’t do anything. If we wait until we can afford it, many of us will die unfulfilled and bitter about lost opportunities, and our dreams will die with us.

What we all need is a ‘can do’ attitude and a strength of mind to follow our own path. There are many stories of people that had nothing, but their determination to be successful, make a dream come true or live the life they wanted, succeeded because they decided that was where they were going and kept their minds firmly focussed of the destination and not the obstacles along the way.

Your Dream – Your Life

I have a friend who always wanted to sky-dive, but felt he shouldn’t spend money on it as he had a family to support. Another acquaintance said she secretly wanted to go paintballing but felt she was too old. Then there is my cousin who is always saying she wants to go up in a hot air balloon, but her husband was frightened of heights and didn’t want her to do it because he couldn’t. These people only see obstacles and are allowing other’s perceptions and decisions to override their own wants and desires. The father must believe in his self-worth. He too deserves to fulfil his dream of sky-diving, alongside meeting the needs of his family. My acquaintance should forget her age and go paintballing. Who knows what age you are when you are charging through woodland shooting paintballs with a facemask on? As for my cousin, who is being swayed by her husband fear, well she should take a leaf out of Meghan and Harry’s book and do what she wants to do, not what her husband doesn’t want her to do.

No Excuses

Don’t be swayed by what others think or want you to do. Don’t hide behind excuses. Do you really want to live your life according to the rules and restrictions of others? Because, one thing’s for sure, if you do, you’ll eventually regret not following your dreams. Live life to the full. Do stuff, go places…live!
