Love or Hate Christmas?

Some People Hate Christmas

It’s not just the Grinch or Scrooge either. Many perfectly normal, happy people dread Christmas. They have their reasons, and they are as genuine as those that love of Christmas. Many Christmas haters, dislike the enforced ‘stay at home’ traditions as they feel trapped with people that they don’t necessarily like very much. Many are lonely. Christmas we are told are about family and spending time together. Some haven’t got families, so this focus makes them feel even more isolated.

Invite the Lonely to Your Christmas Celebrations.

That’s right, get your ho, ho on and pop next door and invite a lonely neighbour to one of your festive meals. Isn’t that more in keeping with the true meaning of Christmas of goodwill to all? We think so.

Don’t Get Stuck Indoors – Get Out and Do Something Active.

We don’t mean head to the sales. Surely you already shopped ‘til you dropped before Christmas. The house is bulging with goodies, new clothes and stuff. Do you really need more? No, we mean something truly active and exciting.

Trapped in a Christmas Themed House

Christmas is over, but the house is still decorated, and the bells on the tree are relentlessly playing ‘Jingle Bells’, or ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’. You’re sitting in front of the TV in your god-awful Christmas jumper and watching The Great Escape…again! All you can think of is how you can escape before yet more food is thrust into your idle hands as your waistline inches towards the maximum stretch point on your elasticated trousers.

The Board Game Bore

“I know,” someone says, “let’s play charades or a board game after the film.” You don’t know whether to cry or just stuff your face with choccies and mince pies to deaden the pain. You do both as you plaster a smile on your face because there is nowhere to run. The shops are closed, and you are off work for another few days.

Time to Break Free

If you do nothing else, at least get your coat on and go for a brisk walk. The food, board games, old films and family will all be there when you get back. If you want to take it a step further, plan an activity day as part of your festive season. Get it booked in so you know it is going to happen and you can look forward to it. How about doing a Steve McQueen instead of watching on the box and get a bit of off-road action with these hairy off-road dirt karts? You’ll be ready for a big feed when you get back home after this. If Christmas has really tested your patience and you are at the end of your rope, we suggest you climb up into the trees on a High Ropes Course and rise above it all. Or, you can enter into a bit of British tradition and go shooting post-Christmas. We mean clay pigeon shooting of course. No birds are injured in this activity. If you’re really wound up about it all, then why not throw a few axes and really let out all that pent-up emotion.
