It\u2019s\nnot just the Grinch or Scrooge either. Many perfectly normal, happy\npeople dread Christmas. They have their reasons, and they are as\ngenuine as those that love of Christmas. Many Christmas haters,\ndislike the enforced \u2018stay at home\u2019 traditions as they feel\ntrapped with people that they don\u2019t necessarily like very much.\nMany are lonely. Christmas we are told are about family and spending\ntime together. Some haven\u2019t got families, so this focus makes them\nfeel even more isolated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invite\nthe Lonely to Your Christmas Celebrations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s\nright, get your ho, ho on and pop next door and invite a lonely\nneighbour to one of your festive meals. Isn\u2019t that more in keeping\nwith the true meaning of Christmas of goodwill to all? We think so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t\nGet Stuck Indoors \u2013 Get Out and Do Something Active.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\ndon\u2019t mean head to the sales. Surely you already shopped \u2018til you\ndropped before Christmas. The house is bulging with goodies, new\nclothes and stuff. Do you really need more? No, we mean something\ntruly active and exciting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trapped\nin a Christmas Themed House<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nChristmas\nis over, but the house is still decorated, and the bells on the tree\nare relentlessly playing \u2018Jingle Bells\u2019, or \u2018We Wish You a\nMerry Christmas\u2019. You\u2019re sitting in front of the TV in your\ngod-awful Christmas jumper and watching The Great Escape\u2026again! All\nyou can think of is how you can escape before yet more food is thrust\ninto your idle hands as your waistline inches towards the maximum\nstretch point on your elasticated trousers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nBoard Game Bore<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\nknow,\u201d someone says, \u201clet\u2019s play charades or a board game after\nthe film.\u201d You don\u2019t know whether to cry or just stuff your face\nwith choccies and mince pies to deaden the pain. You do both as you\nplaster a smile on your face because there is nowhere to run. The\nshops are closed, and you are off work for another few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time\nto Break Free<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do nothing else, at least get your coat on and go for a brisk walk. The food, board games, old films and family will all be there when you get back. If you want to take it a step further, plan an activity day as part of your festive season. Get it booked in so you know it is going to happen and you can look forward to it. How about doing a Steve McQueen instead of watching on the box and get a bit of off-road action with these hairy off-road dirt karts<\/a><\/strong>? You\u2019ll be ready for a big feed when you get back home after this. If Christmas has really tested your patience and you are at the end of your rope, we suggest you climb up into the trees on a High Ropes Course<\/a><\/strong> and rise above it all. Or, you can enter into a bit of British tradition and go shooting post-Christmas. We mean clay pigeon shooting<\/a><\/strong> of course. No birds are injured in this activity. If you\u2019re really wound up about it all, then why not throw a few axes<\/a><\/strong> and really let out all that pent-up emotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
