Mini Motos are just 18′ high and powered by a 39cc, 2 stroke engine capable of 30mph.
Utilizing karting tracks, these mini motorcycles put big boys and girls on tiny toys. If you have never tried these crazy little bikes, give them a go even if it is for no other reason that you and your mates will find it hilarious when you see how funny you look perched on top of such a small bike. But don’t laugh too loud, there are minimoto championships at Country and European level and competitors are pretty impressive, despite the size of the bike.
INTERESTING FACTS
The first minimotos were from Japan, but these low power bikes were quickly superseded by the more powerful European models, particularly the Italian Polini engined variety which is one of the fastest accelerating minimotos out there.
Minomotos are a lot easier to ride than a full-sized motorcycle because they don’t have gears. You twist the throttle on the handlebar. To brake you use the handlebar control for the front brake or a foot pedal for back brake.
A minimoto, or pocket-bike is a scaled down GP Racing motorcycle. It stands about 15-18 inches high depending on the model and brand, and weighs anywhere from 35 to 55 pounds.
