The Mums Who Continue To Boss The Sporting World

Being a mum is a 24/7 job, so why not give your mum a break this Mother’s Day by treating her to the ultimate adventure that she’ll remember for years to come!

They say that it’s the thought that counts, but what your mum is really after is a truly memorable experience. Sure, you might feel tempted to purchase the bog standard chocolates and flowers for the fifth year running, but that’s not exactly original now, is it?

Looking for some inspiration? Here’s just some of the mums that have merged their sporting passions with their mothering duties.

Katie Chapman

One of the first ever mums to combine the commitments of professional Women’s Football with the tireless act of raising her three children. She’s even said that having kids has helped her improve her fitness – proving that having the huge responsibility of bringing up her children didn’t mean that she’d have to give up her sporting ambitions.

Katie has appeared 94 times for the Women’s England National Team, scoring 8 times. Not only that, she has played for the likes of world renowned clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal – picking up numerous honours along the way, including an FA Women’s Cup winner’s medal on no less than nine occasions!

Don’t think your mum has what it takes to become the next Women’s Footballing sensation? Then why not immerse her in the thrilling variation of the beautiful game in an action sporting craze which is sweeping the nation – bubble football. This hilariously fun activity will see your mum go head to head with her friends and family whilst in a giant Zorb ball, aiming to claim victory at the same time as she avoids hitting the deck!

Bethany Hamilton

A truly inspirational character amongst female sporting stars, Bethany has firmly established herself as one of the greatest women surfers the sport has ever known. But, it didn’t come easy, as she lost her left arm in a horrific shark attack back in 2003, when she was aged just 13. However, she didn’t let that stop her from participating in the thing she loved above anything else – getting back on her surfboard just a month after losing a limb.

Ever since then, she’s enjoyed a glittering career, earning major honours such as becoming a champion in the 2005 NSSA National Helping Kids competition, in addition to a 2nd placed finish in the ASP World Junior Championships in 2008.

In 2015, Bethany gave birth to her first child and is currently expecting her second child later this year. Despite becoming a mother for the first time 3 years ago, she went on to compete in two competitions, including the 2015 Snatch Women’s Pro, and 2016 Fiji Women’s Pro, where she finished in 13th and 3rd positions respectively.

Do you think your Mum would like to hit the waves this Mother’s Day? Then we have a range of magnificent beginner-friendly surfing venues that will allow them to do just that!

Megan Pischke Porcheron

Not only has Megan Pischke Porcheron combined a professional snowboarding career with her duties as a mother, but she’s also managed to emerge victorious in her battle against stage-3 breast cancer.

Throughout her 20 year snowboarding career, she encountered not only early slopestyle courses at the Winter X Games, but also she’s managed to keep up her love for activities such as trail running – all whilst performing the full time job that comes with being a mother. As well as this, she’s even become an ambassador for the B4BC (Boarding For Breast Cancer) – a truly inspirational organisation which increases awareness of breast cancer across the world.

If you think your Mum could follow in the footsteps of Megan and take to the slopes, then we have a number of amazing snowboarding venues on offer which might just be on your doorstep, meaning she won’t even need to head on over the Alps anytime soon!
