Llangollen (pronounced Clan-goth-len) is a cute little town just inside the Welsh border and just 3.5hours from London.
This is the perfect antidote to London life and an epic weekend away.
The plan:
Friday evening - Either meet us in Hammersmith after work and join the HOFNAR minibus or we'll see you there. We are staying in the 3 star Hand Hotel right in the centre of this brilliant little town. Let's all go out for dinner at The Three Eagles and nail down the plans for the weekend.
Saturday - In the morning we'll join the team from Bearded Men and they'll guide us in two person Canadian canoes across the world famous 126ft high Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. It's a calm, serene, awe inspiring trip, will you look over the edge?!
In the afternoon we'll knock things up a gear - under the gaze of Llangollen itself is a nice set of rapids on the river Dee. We are going to ride through them in big rubber tractor-tyre-size rings. This is SO MUCH FUN and has you laughing from start to finish. The Bearded Men will be looking after us all the way and keeping us flipped up the right way!
Saturday evening - We'll head into Llangollen and eat at The Corn Mill, this pub has a superb position right next to the river and is the best place in town for us to wind down and regale in our adventures of the day.
Sunday - Ever been on an E-Bike? We're going to spend the day exploring the area by bike, the route is entirely tbc but expect to see; Llangollen Canal, Horseshoe Falls, Valle Crucis Abbey, Dinas Bran Castle, Panorama Walk, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Chirk Castle.. it's going to be ace.
We will leave Llangollen heading back to London at about 4pm.
When you get back into the office in London on Monday morning and people say 'do anything nice this weekend' you are going to have SO much to tell them.
