Itinerary

Day 1: Broome – Port Hedland

Today’s journey south is accompanied by the sparse and low vegetation of the Great Sandy Desert. The entire northern coast of Western Australia is lined with vast mangrove forests, with a notable exception: Eighty Mile Beach, where the white sand competes with the blue sea, inviting visitors to relax or collect shells. Stingrays, stonefish, and sharks are strong arguments to stay on land. Arrival in Port Hedland in the evening.
Accommodation: Hospitality Motel, Port Hedland

Day 2: Port Hedland – Karijini National Park (Breakfast)

After breakfast, we leave Port Hedland, where with some luck we may see one of the massive 2–3 km long iron ore trains. We head south through the Pilbara Region, whose Aboriginal name “bilypara” means “dry” — fitting, as this area, nearly twice the size of Germany, is half covered in red desert and rocky ridges. Our accommodation lies in the heart of Karijini National Park, offering a fantastic atmosphere and absolute nighttime silence.
Accommodation: Karijini Eco Retreat, Karijini National Park

Day 3: Karijini National Park (Breakfast/Lunch)

The rocks in Western Australia's second-largest national park are among the oldest on Earth, with some of the most vibrant and dramatic landscapes in the country. The iron-rich highlands are filled with gorges, permanent waterholes, and spectacular viewpoints. We hike to Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool, whose year-round pools are perfect for a swim. We also visit Oxer Lookout for an amazing view over four merging gorges.
Accommodation: Karijini Eco Retreat, Karijini National Park

Day 4: Karijini – Exmouth (Ningaloo Reef) (Breakfast)

We depart the iron ore regions of Western Australia early and head towards the coast. Arriving in the evening in Exmouth, at the northern end of the Ningaloo Reef. Experts say the marine life here is even more diverse than at the Great Barrier Reef.
Accommodation: Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort, Exmouth

Day 5: Exmouth (Ningaloo Reef) (Breakfast)

From Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, enjoy panoramic views of North West Cape, the Ningaloo Reef, and the massive antennas of the Harold E. Holt Naval Station. During a hike through Mandu Mandu Gorge, we look out for rare rock wallabies. At scenic and safe-to-swim Turquoise Bay, we enjoy the diverse and colorful underwater world of the Ningaloo Marine Park. Return to hotel.
Accommodation: Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort, Exmouth

Day 6: Exmouth – Coral Bay – Carnarvon (Breakfast)

The reef is close to the shore and easily accessible by snorkeling or glass-bottom boat. Home to coral, rare starfish, crabs, and over 500 fish species. In the afternoon, we travel leisurely from the southern end of the Ningaloo Reef to Carnarvon.
Accommodation: Hospitality Motel, Carnarvon

Day 7: Carnarvon – Monkey Mia (Shark Bay) (Breakfast)

Traveling through the Australian Outback, we stop at Shell Beach, unique in its makeup of countless tiny shells. At Hamelin Pool, we marvel at the world’s oldest life forms: stromatolites. In the afternoon, we reach Monkey Mia, famous for its dolphins that voluntarily swim to shore almost daily to be fed. After dinner, an Aboriginal guide enchants us during a short walk with ancient stories and didgeridoo sounds beneath Western Australia’s brilliant night sky.

Optional: Monkey Mia Sunset Cruise

Enjoy the stunning sights of the sky’s continual change of colours reflected off the sea during this relaxing 1.5-hour cruise. Purchase a drink from our fully licensed Ocean Lounge Bar, or bring your own (BYO permitted). A tranquil way to end the day.

Accommodation: Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort, Shark Bay

Day 8: Monkey Mia – Kalbarri (Breakfast)

Morning dolphin feeding and insights into this intelligent marine species. Visit to the Shark Bay Interpretive Centre in Denham for more information on the World Heritage Area. Depending on the season, we may see Western Australia’s famous wildflowers en route to Kalbarri National Park. Stop for breathtaking views into Murchison Gorge, then continue to the peaceful town of Kalbarri.
Accommodation: Kalbarri Edge Resort, Kalbarri

Day 9: Kalbarri – Geraldton (Breakfast)

After breakfast, we return to Kalbarri National Park. The rugged coastal cliffs here are stunning. We then travel via the coastal road and Port Gregory to Geraldton. A scenic small aircraft flight takes us over the Wallabi Group of the Houtman Abrolhos Islands, where the Dutch trading ship Batavia wrecked in 1629 — leading to a bloody mutiny.
Accommodation: Hospitality Motel, Geraldton

Day 10: Geraldton – Perth (Breakfast)

We visit Mount Scott for an overview of Geraldton and Grey’s Bay, and its memorial for victims of the warship HMAS Sydney II, sunk off the coast. We then visit the architecturally unique St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in the city center. Heading south along the coast via Leeman and Jurien Bay, we reach Cervantes, gateway to Nambung National Park. The Pinnacles are one of Western Australia’s most visited natural wonders — thousands of bizarre limestone pillars up to 5 meters high in a surreal desert landscape. A walk among them offers stunning photo opportunities. We continue via Lancelin to Perth, where this extraordinary journey ends at your hotel.
