Are you ready to be an Alaska Boatman in your own Zodiac type rigid hulled inflatable boat (RIB)? Bring along your first mate and be the captain for a part of this three hour guided tour. Follow the guide in your fast boat through rainforest islands keeping an eye out for wildlife: Whales, seals, eagles, sea lions, bears.
The boat is a 14-foot zodiac fully equipped with console steering, seats four with a max speed of 25 knots. Motor into a beach, climb onto land and break for hot drink and a snack. Then, for your return, hand the helm over to another boatman. You will pass rocky islands where humpback whales and orca frequently surface and when in season, go deep into bays and inlets where salmon spawning streams attract black bears. This is an excursion for the spirited traveler with an opportunity to drive your own boat among the islands north of Ketchikan.
