Itinerary Day 1: Perth - Geraldton
We depart from Perth and head north. The journey takes us through Lancelin to Cervantes, the entrance to Nambung National Park. The Pinnacles, some of the most visited natural wonders of the state, lie in a flat desert landscape that seems almost surreal. Thousands of bizarre limestone pillars, up to five meters high, provide breathtaking photo opportunities. After a scenic drive along the coast through Jurien Bay and Leeman, we arrive in Geraldton, the sunniest city in Western Australia. We will visit Mount Scott, offering an overview of Geraldton and Grey’s Bay, and hosting a memorial for the HMAS Sydney II. The day concludes with a visit to the architecturally unique St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in central Geraldton.
Accommodation: Hospitality Motel, Geraldton
Day 2: Geraldton - Kalbarri B
In the morning, we fly to the Wallabi Islands in the Houtman-Abrolhos Archipelago. This is where the Dutch trade ship Batavia stranded in 1629, leading to a bloody mutiny.
